Reema is hands on legal professional with over 17 years of post-qualification experience and a proven track record across diverse jurisdictions, who commenced her career with private practice in New York (Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz), Singapore (Watson, Farley & Williams), London (Dechert LLP) and then Dubai (Hadef & Partners) and who then transitioned into two in-house roles in Dubai as the Al Dobowi Group’s General Counsel and Al Futtaim Group’s Head of Arbitration and International Litigation.

Selected representative roles and matters:

  • Representing clients with their whole suite of legal documents to ensure robust business practices and foolproof/watertight contractual positions from internal policies, to employment agreements, settlement agreements, distribution and licencing agreements, shareholder and joint-venture agreements to general commercial agreements.
  • Representing and advising a wide range of clients from banks to blue chip companies, high net-worth individuals and family businesses etc. in a wide variety of disputes, including: white collar crime, intellectual property, real estate, registered agency, product liability, shareholders disputes, contractual and commercial disputes, construction, employment, shipping, trade and transport.  
  • Representing clients through litigation and arbitration, but also with pre-action advice, risk mitigation and alternative dispute resolution.
  • Assisting clients with complex, multi-jurisdictional and high-value real estate investment transactions, including in relation to the full range of real estate disputes, from joint-venture disputes, construction-related disputes and financing disputes, through to development obstacles and insolvency matters.
  • Acting for participants across the energy sector, advising on the full range of contentious matters, from contractual issues through to regulatory disputes and investment treaty arbitration claims.
  • Advising clients on the extraction, processing, distribution, trading and financing of oil and gas activities globally.
  • Supporting clients across the commodities sector, acting for producers, traders and banks in relation to disputes concerning metals, minerals and soft commodities, as well as in relation to trade finance issues and insurance disputes.
  • Advising in relation to a broad range of disputes arising out of commercial contracts, as well as joint venture disputes, shareholder disputes and issues arising out of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Advising clients in the maritime sector in relation to shipbuilding disputes, issues arising out of the sale and purchase agreements, charters, cargo claims and enforcement matters.
  • Advising clients in relation to duties of directors and potential liabilities, enforcement of security, asset tracing.
  • Advising on a range of contentious and investigatory matters arising out of regulatory regimes such as the FCPA or UK’s Bribery Act, from competition claims and disputes involving allegations of bribery and corruption through to financial regulatory matters and issues in other sectors regulated by statute.
